[users@httpd] Apache index.html

I have httpd running. Using the install that came with the OS, YDL
which is like redhat linux ported to run on a Mac. An rpm -q returns
httpd-2.0.40-21.3b. So the server returns a page I have changed my
httpd.conf, DocumentRoot to /var/www/mysite. If I type
www.mysite.com I get returned the default apache web page. If I type
www.mysite.con/index.html I get my site. I spent more time that I'd
like to admit trying to figure this out. I figure it is something
obvious so I'll let you guys have at it.

No only one file index.html. I clear the cache of my browser same
thing. I'm not sure where an intermediate proxy cache would occur.
Since its running local and I can start and stop the server and it
continues after restart. I get the same thing if I put in the IP
address as well.

Are there any files in that directory other than your index.html? If
not, you almost certainly are seeing cached responses, either from
your browser, or from some intermediate proxy cache.

Ok now I feel really foolish. Have been editing a copy the httpd.conf
remotely (ok across the room) using bbedit on my mac. Than from ssh I
would run this: sudo cp /home/thegeek/httpd.conf.cp
/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf seems OK. except I would leave of the "f"
in httpd.conf. to add to my misery I would cycle through the CLI using
the arrow keys and repeat my mistake. Many time I may add. So now all
is working well. Hey at least I found this Forum.

Thanks

BTW, did you send a HUP signal to apache (or restarted apache) after the
changes to the httpd.conf and did you make sure it is not from the
browser's cache (as Joshua mentioned)
