Steps in developing code for Apacahe SOAP

All:

I would like to get some information on the steps to
contributing as a developer to the Apache SOAP
project. I have read the guidelines listed on the
Apache XML site and have downloaded the source code
from the repository.

I have spent some time getting familiar with the SOAP
protocol as well as using it. I have also started
perusing the source code.

I would appreciate it if any of the current developers
could provide me any information on the following:

- Is there any UML documentation on the overall
design?
- I have read through the ToDO document and I see that
some people are already working on some of the items.
- I would like to start work on some of the open
items. Is there any definitive way (other than sending
out email to the dev group) on how to do this?

Thanks for your help. Any information on this subject
would be appreciated.

Hi Sanjiva,

Thanks for replying to my email. Could you please send
me the email address for subscribing to the axis-dev
group? I could'nt find it on the Apache website.

Thanks,

I'm afraid not (AFAIK).

The todo doc is a bit out of date ..

Nope.

Also, the direction for Apache SOAP is that Apache Axis will be the
next major version. Axis (originally called "V3" of Apache SOAP)
represent a re-write to address some of the fundamental changes that
the developers wanted to have.

Are there specific changes you'd like to make to the v2 codebase
(i.e., APache SOAP)? If so please post the changes you'd like to
make and if no one screams go ahead and do them. If you'd like to just
participate in the future evolution of this stuff, then the right
advice is to join the axis-dev group.

Sanjiva.
