[jira] Created: (HADOOP-4791) Improve rpm build process for Chukwa

Improve rpm build process for Chukwa
------------------------------------

                 Key: HADOOP-4791
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-4791
             Project: Hadoop Core
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: contrib/chukwa
         Environment: Redhat EL 5, Java 1.6, Hadoop Trunk
            Reporter: Eric Yang
            Assignee: Eric Yang

Chukwa has a ant target which builds RPM file. The RPM includes /etc/init.d script which enable admin to start chukwa processes for the local machine. For making the RPM installation path more flexible, chukwa build.xml should look for a property file to decide the installation location for the RPM and modify the init.d script accordingly in the build process.

Eric Yang updated HADOOP-4791:
------------------------------

    Attachment: HADOOP-4791.patch

The new configuration enable the Release Engineer to specify the installation path for Chukwa in build.properties file, for example:

rpm.prefix=/usr/local

This will create RPM file which will install into /usr/local/chukwa.
