Noticed this blog entry (thanks Google Alerts) and crafted up a post
in our blog about it:

  https://blogs.apache.org/preview/openejb/?previewEntry=user_blog_tomcat_openejb_and

Gave it till Wed, 8am, EST for lazy consensus. Comments, changes,
feedback welcome!

Yeah, why not. Gonna try to clean up a bit before.

Will think about it and push some code in order to get something for
discussion.

Thanks again for you feedback.

Could you commit it to a sandbox to let other humble readers of your
posts take a look at what it is to make jax-rs work with openejb?

https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openejb/trunk/sandbox/

Do what's needed and we'll fix it afterwards when/if required. Publish
your work in the sandbox - that should be the goal for the upcoming
days till you find some spare time on further developments "after
mid-January". Deal?

David,

i dug into that topic.
IMHO, if we want to add this feature we need to change (refactor) the
openejb-cxf module.
Actually, it's tightly linked with JAX-WS with two concrete implementations:
pojo and ejb.

Just for fun, i made some changes (quick and dirty) and i'm able to add
JAX-RS annotations and deploy a web service. Unfortunately, it fails during
invocation. Any way, to go further in that topic, it will require a larger
amount of time ;-) (may be after mid-January ;-))

Moreover, i need some inputs:
- link between CXF and OpenEJB
- HTTP destination (standalone vs tomcat)
- may i have to create a new container for that? Currently (in the quick and
dirty proto), i use a set of if statements to choose between a JAX-WS
deploiement and a JAX-RS deploiement

Open for discussions.

David,

I've been working on CXF 2.x integration in OpenEJB.
CXF also provides RESTful WS support.

Actually, i planned to give it a try after CXF integration.
It would be fun to have a RESTful support for EJB web services.
