I did check the OODT release notes which I've done 100 times, in there we
just tag with 0.6 no RC or anything. But I'll leave that up to you.

You aren't wrong, I add RCX all the time, then instantly regret it when I
show other people! :)

There was a lot of discussion about git and its mutable tags a while ago, I
don't think there is a hard and fast rule on how you tag, but bear in mind,
if you send out a vote email into the archive and someone tries to trace it
back 5 years later, that tag pointer still needs to exist, you shouldn't
rename tags IMHO. So you might tag 0.6-RC1 then 0.6, thats your own choice
and largely down to how you document the ODF Toolkit release process.

Anyway, yeah cancel the vote, rerelease and open a new vote.

Re: VOTE: Apache ODF Toolkit (incubating) 0.6.2-RC1 as 0.6.2

Posted by Svante Schubert <sv...@gmail.com>.
No problem at all. I fully agree with you now, when I have chosen the
suffix about a week ago, I thought it was a splendid idea...

Please correct me if I am wrong in the following:
I will use no RCx suffix on the Nexus server for staging. So far it is
obvious, but shouldn't we use the suffix on dev and tag directory and
rename/move it after the vote passes?

In any case, I assume the correct procedure is to stop the current vote and
I will fix it right away and reinitate the vote again, right?

Cheers,
Svante

Re: VOTE: Apache ODF Toolkit (incubating) 0.6.2-RC1 as 0.6.2

Posted by Tom Barber <to...@spicule.co.uk>.
Okay, I put half an incubator hat on and check RAT, the build, the licenses
and disclaimers etc which look okay at a quick glance.

But, I'm going to -1 this release currently because of the RC1 tag in the
names. When its released its no longer an RC but then the hashes etc don't
match. Rebuild it without the RC tag in the version and I think it'll be
good to go.

Sorry to be annoying! :)

Re: VOTE: Apache ODF Toolkit (incubating) 0.6.2-RC1 as 0.6.2

Posted by Svante Schubert <sv...@gmail.com>.
Hello Ian,

Yes it is the head.

Regarding Tom's question of the tag being used: We are not yet moved to
GIT, so the subversion tag is just a copied repository directory in the tag
directory:
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/odf/tags/
odftoolkit-0.6.2-incubating-RC1/
Of course Tom is right, I will mention the tag next time directly to make
the build easy reproduceable.

Cheers,
Svante

System is Windoze 10. Java 8.

If the release is the head +1.

If not I can get the release later..

P.S. Hi Tom, good to see a new face, so to speak.

Its normally useful to include a pointer to a git tag or similar when
shooting out those emails so people can tell where you built the code
from....

What tag did you use?

Thanks

Re: VOTE: Apache ODF Toolkit (incubating) 0.6.2-RC1 as 0.6.2

Posted by Svante Schubert <sv...@gmail.com>.
I have forgotten to vote for myself with +1 as release engineer for this
release candidat to become our next 0.6.2-incubating release.
As a member of the Podling Project Management Committee (PPMC) this is the
first of three +1 from PPMC required to pass this vote.

I have build the release with Ubuntu 16.04 (Linux 4.4.0-65-generic) using
JDK 1.6.0_45 and the last available Apache-Maven for JDK 6 (i.e. 3.2.5). I
have chosen JDK6 as LibreOffice uses our ODF Validator for regression tests
on very old machines. As discussed before, we plan to switch afterwards to
JDK 8 jumping directly to 0.7-SNAPSHOT to be able to use the latest version
of Apache Jena for our W3C RDF support.
In additon, the build and tests run successful under JDK 6,7,8 with Windows
10 and JDK 6 and 8 under Ubuntu.

As usually, I have checked the JavaDoc that our taglets work successful.
For those new here, JavaDoc taglets are being used to create three types of
generic references from the JavaDoc classes to the ODF 1.2 specification in
HTML (elements, attributes and data types).

Cheers,
Svante

[X] +1, accept RC as the official 0.6.2-incubating release

built it from scratch and made some tests, looks good to me
