There are unit and integration tests, but we should really have a system test as well.

I plan to create a new test, since this feature is pretty different than the existing topology/data set of smoke test. Although, it might be possible for the new test to subsume smoke test. I'd give the new test a few releases to burn in before considering a merge, though.
