A member of the Apache Board of Directors expressed concern that, since our user@oodt.apache.org list has so little traffic, we may be needlessly splintering our community.

Within the OODT PMC we had a discussion (<59...@apache.org>) and agreed. We then called for a vote (<C3...@apache.org>) and after at least 72 hours had all +1 agreement (<C3...@apache.org>).

We then warned subscribers to the user@oodt.apache.org list of the impending shutdown (<40...@apache.org>), along with instructions on how to join dev@oodt.apache.org. We gave folks over 20 days to move over.

And now, at long last, we'd like to formally request Apache Infrastructure to close down user@oodt.apache.org. Thank you for keeping it running for the mere trickle of traffic it served.

If you need any clarification or have any concern, let me know and I'll liaison with the OODT community.
