[GitHub] [arrow-datafusion] alamb opened a new issue, #4720: Non-deprecated support for planning SQL without DDL

alamb opened a new issue, #4720:
URL: https://github.com/apache/arrow-datafusion/issues/4720

**Is your feature request related to a problem or challenge? Please describe what you are trying to do.**
For IOx, it is very important to use DataFusion in read-only mode -- we don't allow users to create tables, or other DDL as that would allow access to the file system, for example

After https://github.com/apache/arrow-datafusion/pull/4679 from @tustvold the only API we have to do so via unsupported APIs

   I want a supported API

   **Describe the solution you'd like**
An API that can create and run plans that do not have DDL support.

   **Describe alternatives you've considered**
A clear and concise description of any alternative solutions or features you've considered.

   **Additional context**
   Found while updating here: https://github.com/influxdata/influxdb_iox/pull/6467
