a Tizen Customized Cordova Icon?

hi folks,

I customized the Cordova icon for our Tizen Port.

I changed the eyes for Tizen "triangular logo" (see enclosed)

Is it possible to do such cordova icon customization for a specific
platform?

hi all,

it is not an issue to keep using the legacy Cordova icon, that is very nice.

Tuning the icon was only a personal idea I had since I saw the new
cordova icon.
( I mean there is no push behind that)

Regards,
Paul

How do you licence an image under Apache anyway? Does JPEG allow you
to put the license in the Metadata or something?

Funny, I think it looks like a robot, nothing like a donkey.

Joe - Apache Rat skips binaries so I'm not sure, but I assume that it
is Apache v2.0 licensed since the person committing it to the repo
would have signed the iCLA. In this case the images were uploaded to
the SVN (as a .zip) by Yohei who has signed the iCLA. I uploaded the
source .PSDs (from Yohei and Joni as well) to SVN

Hey Patrick,

I'm not saying it can't be changed, I'm saying it shouldn't be changed :
)

Though I can't quote any other open source projects as a reference, the
accepted practice within the branding/design world is that changing a logo
to fit one's own purpose dilutes brand strength, particularly if there are
multiple versions of a logo for a single "product". Also, the outcome
generally looks bad aesthetically.

This is certainly an interesting conversation, though.
My recommendation is that a style guide be created for the Cordova logo,
including usage do's and don'ts.

So, for clarification, the icon in question with the "Tizen" eyes is here:

    https://github.com/pplaquette/cordova-tizen-icons/blob/master/icon.png

The same icon, as proudly displayed here:

    http://incubator.apache.org/cordova/

Is that icon not licensed under the Apache license? If so, seems like a
stretch to say it can't be changed.

On the other hand, I'm not sure I want people "customizing" the icon
either, within the project. Everyone'll want a customized icon for their
platform, and then we start wondering "are we infringing on the platform's
iconography", etc.

I suppose we should have some kind of a statement as to how our artwork
can/should be used, modified, etc, if it's for some reason different than
the Apache license.

Hey Paul,

Sorry to be the downer brand police, but changing the logo in anyway is a big no-no.

the icon is visible on a git hub repository:
git@github.com:pplaquette/cordova-tizen-icons.git

icon.png
(this is the basic name for icon within a Tizen project generated using
wizard in current Tizen SDK)
