[VOTE] New alpha release
Hi All
As it has been 10 months since our last alpha release (alpha1, on
2005-07-04), I think we should have another alpha release.
The voting on this will be open for 1 week, and your options are:
+1 - We should have a new alpha release
0 - I don't mind either way
-1 - I don't think we need a new alpha release
-1 - I actually think we should have a beta release
Personally, I'm going with [+1]. Oh, and I'll actually do the release,
assuming the vote goes for it.

If it is possible, I would like to include in the upcoming release
uncommitted patch
http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=39389.
Without this patch HSSF doesn't display extended ASCII characters for
symbolic fonts like Symbol or Wingdings. We use such characters in
production and it would be good to include this change in the release.

BTW, I wouldn't mind a beta release instead of an alpha.

I had been hoping to release this once Yegor was on-board, and had
committed his patch. However, as he's having some trouble somewhere
between faxing his CLA and having it appear on the list, I've applied his
patch and done the release.
So, you should be able to find poi 3.0 alpha 2 on your favourite apache
mirror in the next few days. Enjoy!
