Serializer Question

I have a simple question on how to use the XMLSerializer. I parsed a
document which contains a DTD declarlation, and then modified it. The I am
serializing it using the XMLSerializer. The problem is that the DTD
declaration is not included in the output. I tried specifying the document
type using the Output class, but no luck. I believe I am using Xerces 1.1.3.
