iterating form components & returning values?

hi all,

i need to create a string of xml based upon form field's names and 
values, e.g.

  <input name="foo" value="fooValue" />
  <input name="bar" value="barValue" />

would become
  <foo>fooValue</foo><bar>barValue</bar>

i am able to iterate the Map returned by getComponents(), but i am 
having trouble getting the component values...i end up getting the hash 
name of the Java object if i get() the value from the Map.

all fields won't necessarily be textfields - some are selects and 
radios.  any ideas?
