Odi,
I can't reproduce this bug. HTTPD 2.0.40 does not seem to exhibit it. HTTPD 
1.3.27 also appears all right. What version of HTTPD is prone to this problem?
I kind of lean towards not fixing this bug, if it is specific just to older 
versions of the 1.3.x HTTPD branch.
