[jira] [Commented] (FALCON-266) HCatalog partition registration within process

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FALCON-266?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13870985#comment-13870985 ]

Satish Mittal commented on FALCON-266:
--------------------------------------

Currently when dynamic partitions are created by HCatalog, the underlying HDFS directories for the partitions are created in a fixed 'Hive-style' format, i.e. root_dir/key1=value1/key2=value2/.. etc. It doesn't support custom location format for dynamic partitions even in case of external table. Raised [HIVE-6109|https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-6109] JIRA in HIVE project for this issue.

> When process workflow gets executed, the newly created partitions should get registered in HCatalog. Also the HDFS location format of the dynamic partitions registered in HCatalog should be configurable.
