Unbalanced tags do not generate compile time error
Summary: Unbalanced tags do not generate compile time error
Product: Tomcat 4
Version: 4.0.4 Final
Platform: All
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: Other
Component: Servlet & JSP API
AssignedTo: tomcat-dev@jakarta.apache.org
ReportedBy: dmorris@plumcreek.com
The following exmaple should be invalid:
<logic:notPresent name="org.apache.struts.action.MESSAGE"
scope="application"/>
Application resources not loaded!
</logic:notPresent>
In this case the logic:notPresent tag is a singleton (unintended) and therefore
should not be closed. The JSP 1.2 specification states "Action elements follow
the syntax of an XML element.: They have a start tag including the element
name, and may have attributes, an optional body, and a matching end tag, or
they be an empty tag possibly with attributes...". A compile time error would
be nice.
