[Trinidad] browser build-in autocomplete box (IE 7 issue...)
Hi,
perhaps most of you know the browser-build-in autocomplete box.
I noticed that this doesn't show up in IE7, but in FF2 it does.
(no Trinidad isn't rendering something like autocomplete="off")
A simple test-case for that is:
1) Go to (in FF2):
http://example.irian.at/trinidad-demo-20070912/faces/components/inputText.jspx
clear out the value "Some text" and enter a new value, like "ABC" and
press submit.
2) clear out the re-rendered value and type "A". Notice that the
autocomplete box shows up.
Do the same in IE7 and notice that there isn't such a box.
Trying this on Tomahawk demos, I notice there the box shows up, so no
"GLOBAL" settings
in my IE7 are causing this.
Someone noticed this as well ?
Can one of you try the IE 6 behavior ?
Thanks,
Matthias

Hi!
We discovered another Autocomplete Problem:
Our site uses HTTPS and there it still didn't work most of the
time; but when we used HTTP it did work!
A colleague discovered an article on the web which brought
us on the right track: http://www.res-arkana.com/wiki/ie_autocomplete.doc
We used the following meta tags to control caching:
<meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache">
<meta http-equiv="cache-control" content="no-cache"> <meta
http-equiv="expires" content="0">
After removing the first meta-tag (as suggestend in the article)
it worked with HTTPS and IE6 and IE7!
Hope this helps!
Chris

Hello Matthias,
It worked like 50% of the times in IE 6. We're still trying to figure out
why.

Yes, that's true.
I am not sure if the bug is filed against FF 2 already, and/or already
fixed in FF3.
(IE has the same issue;-) )
a combi of focus/blur could do the trick.

Also, but not directly linked to this, autoSubmit is no longer triggered
from selection from the autocomplete list with FF 2.x while it was in FF 1.x

But you already told me that you've experience the same with plain HTML
.... so might be another problem.
