[jira] [Created] (DRILL-1920) BYTEA data type is not supported, but
is documented
Victoria Markman created DRILL-1920:
---------------------------------------
Summary: BYTEA data type is not supported, but is documented
Key: DRILL-1920
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DRILL-1920
Project: Apache Drill
Issue Type: Bug
Reporter: Victoria Markman
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/DRILL/Data+Types
{code}
0: jdbc:drill:schema=dfs> select cast(n_nation as bytea) from cp.`tpch/nation.parquet`;
Query failed: Query failed: Failure validating SQL. org.eigenbase.util.EigenbaseContextException: From line 1, column 25 to line 1, column 29: Unknown datatype name 'bytea'
Error: exception while executing query: Failure while executing query. (state=,code=0)
{code}
It seems to me that varbinary is the equivalent of Postgres bytea data type.
If we don't have plans to support BYTEA we should remove it from the docs.
