Externals, svncopy.pl script and current version of SVN

Well, nobody replied to my question so I need to ask it again because
there is no email in the header of the svncopy.pl file, and I don't
have any contact at collab.net

I have read in an email from last week that apparently the latest
version of SVN does not handle externals the same way as before when
using the copy command. Since no detail was given, I would like to
know if this means the svncopy.pl script is becoming useless.

Thank you...

Can you give us a reference URL to that mail?

Sure: I pasted the original email at the very bottom of this message.
In fact, my first question was a follow up question to a conversation
named "Update of externals".
Thanks
John

Hmmm, does this mean that there is no need anymore for the SVNCOPY.PL
perl script?

No, it's just that Subversion changed the behaviour of externals.
Before, even if the URL of the external changed, Subversion 'switched'
the wc to the new URL. But that caused problems, so they changed it so
that if the URL changes, a complete new checkout is done.

Could you send a URL for the message in particular?
Can you tell us how you are using svn:externals?
Are you in a position to download and test the new version in a limited
environment?

Currently there is not enough detail in this e-mail for anyone to answer.

Sorry, but this question is really important to me... so I need to ask
it until somebody gives me an answer.
