During the implemenation of [KAFKA-8131|https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-8131] we noticed that command line tools implement parsing of parameters in different ways.
For most of the tools the --version parameter was correctly implemented in that issue, for the following this still remains to be done:
* ConnectDistributed
* ConnectStandalone
* ProducerPerformance
* VerifiableConsumer
* VerifiableProducer
