org.apache.log4j.Layout missing

Dear Karaf experts,

The Log4J Layout class seems not to be available:
	Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.log4j.Layout not found by org.ops4j.pax.logging.pax-logging-api [24]
	...

I there a way to update the Log4J api, keeping the PAX Logging compatibility?
