I think the default stylesheet should include the banner in printouts. Otherwise, depending on the page content and browser settings, it's not always evident where the printed page came from.
I had to try. :) Go ahead and close it if you don't agree.

I think the solution to this is documentation of the current behaviour, and how to make it possible to include it in CSS. Many banner images are not appropriate for a print out due to size/detail.

I agree with Brett, that such images should not be included when printing a page.
One thing we could do is use the bannerLeft.name and bannerRight.name and print those in a fairly large font size.

that's by design (the print CSS removes all of the page furniture).
I believe you can override this in your own site.css - is that acceptable?
