i18n status for static websites

can anyone give me a hint to i18n for static websites?
Is it possible?
If not what needs to be done to make ist possible?

If you use a "forrest seed" there will be a dir at 
src/documentation/translations.

I haven't found any documentation on the topic so far, but I have to 
look in deepth because I have to create as well an I18n static 
html-site. Will let you know about any successes.
