Cleaning up old continuum data

Are there any recommendations for cleaning up old information in
Continuum's database and filesystem? (I'm working with 1.1-SNAPSHOT,
not the released 1.0.3.)

The two largest directories are working-directory, and deploy-repository.

The working-directory should take care of itself, but I think older
versions of Continuum did not delete the wc when a project was
deleted. Continuum will just check the project out again if it needs
it, so I'm leaning towards deleting anything that looks "old" here.

I'm not certain what deploy-repository is used for. (It is optional
in the 'General Configuration'.)

Is there a plugin that can purge a repository of snapshots older than
a certain date, retaining the most recent one and fixing the metadata?

Can the entire deploy-repository just be deleted?

Of less concern since it is not taking up much space, is there a way
to purge old build results and the related text files in the 'build
output directory'?

Thanks,
Wendy

RE: Show the user who modified a file

Posted by Doug Tanner <do...@benefitfocus.com>.
I found this thread in the archives, http://www.mail-archive.com/continuum-users@maven.apache.org/msg01291.html. I would have to disagree to it showing the user when there is only a single commit. I have had several builds with only 1 commit that did not show the information I am want in the build email/results. Has no one else had this problem??

I don't think so. This is related to the SCM API as Emmanuel said. you can
debug it by updating your logging config (org.apache.maven.scm in debug
output).

I did it for CVS and it shows that the command it uses to get the diff does
not work on my CVS system.

Re: Show the user who modified a file

Posted by Stephane Nicoll <st...@gmail.com>.

Posted by Doug Tanner <do...@benefitfocus.com>.
Could the problem be that when we upgraded from continuum 1.0.2, we just copied the database folder into the new continuum instance as described in the upgrade guide?

The scm-cvs provider needs to handle those cases. it's not easy however.

if you can, switch to SVN (no kidding, I heard this a couple of times
already).

RE: Problem building with Continuum

Posted by Doug Tanner <do...@benefitfocus.com>.
Problem resolved. The local system user on my build box was missing the
repository folder under C:/Documents and Settings/Default User/.m2. The
only file in this folder is the parent pom.xml.

Does anyone know why this file must be in here instead of the 'regular'
repositories?

I was able to build from my local machine. I had forgotten to change my
settings.xml for maven. After copying the settings.xml from my
continuum build box, I can successfully build via the command line. So
this brings me back to a missing or corrupt setting in Continuum that is
not looking at the right repo.

I can successfully build from the command line on the box where my
repositories and continuum instances live, however, I cannot build from
the command line from any other machine due to the same error. This
would lead me to believe that there is a corruption in my maven install
since it has been working fine for months. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,

RE: Problem building with Continuum

Posted by Doug Tanner <do...@benefitfocus.com>.

Show the user who modified a file

Posted by Doug Tanner <do...@benefitfocus.com>.
I know that Continuum will show you who modified files in the build
output log when it builds. Is there a setting that needs to be set to
make this happen or does it do it by default? I have a couple of
projects that do not show who checked in the modified files. Another
business unit said they had to download the source and build it locally
to get it to work, but I would rather not have to do this. I am using
continuum-1.0.3.

Thanks,
