Special character searching

Hello,

This might be a dumb question, but I can't figure out why searching with 
special characters like "ö" and "ä" won't work. Crawling and indexing och 
both German and Swedish sites works fine, it's just the searching (via the 
web GUI) that doesn't work.

Does anyone have a clue?
