[Bug 60630] New: Graphical corruption in UI trees/lists

https://bz.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=60630

            Bug ID: 60630
           Summary: Graphical corruption in UI trees/lists
           Product: JMeter
           Version: 3.1
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Main
          Assignee: issues@jmeter.apache.org
          Reporter: dbrakeley@proletariat.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 34667
  --> https://bz.apache.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=34667&action=edit
animated gif of the problem in action

Jmeter version: 3.1 r1770033
Java version: java version "1.7.0_95"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.6.4) (7u95-2.6.4-3)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.95-b01, mixed mode)
OS version: Ubuntu 16.04, kernel 4.4.0-59-generic

1. Run jmeter
2. Create nodes
3. Move up and down the node tree with the arrow keys

Result: The node labels and even vertical spacing change seemingly randomly
after each key press.

Expected: node labels/vertical spacing does not change just by navigating the
UI.

--- Comment #2 from Dan Brakeley <db...@proletariat.com> ---
I just installed the Oracle JVM 1.8.0_121, and that appears to have fixed it.
Thanks for the help, I searched a bunch before submitting this bug, but I
couldn't find anyone having a similar problem. Probably most people have a more
recent version of java.

For anyone else who encounters this, I just did this:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt install oracle-java8-installer

It was ~174MiB of downloads, and it set the new version as my default java
version.

It looks like a Java bug on the particular implementation you use.
I don't reproduce issue with an Oracle Java 8u112 for example on Mac OSX.

Did you try with an Oracle JVM ?
