[users@httpd] clustering

Hi folks !

Right now we are using Apache 1.3. We are using mod_backhand to loadbalance requests. We've got 2-3 frontend-servers, via mod_backhand load/requests is transfered to "backend"-servers, which are not connected to the outside.

Obviously mod_backhand is not being developed for Apache 2, are there any alternatives ?

thanks, Jan-Hendrik

Buy a load balancer.

Or there is also general purpose load balancing software, I looked at
this stuff a year or two ago, but I recall there being a Linux Kernel
module that would do load balancing, as well as a Daemon. I don't
remember what they were called or anything...but just do a google
search for "[your platform] load balancing". I'm sure you'll find
something.
