WebStone on Linux?

I've been unable to get WebStone to run on Linux 2.1.14 or 2.0.30.
The debug output indicates that rexec() is failing. Does anyone have
this working and/or know what the problem is. I hate to spend a lot
of time on something thats already been solved many times ...
