DO NOT REPLY [Bug 47187] New: Taskdef does not fail on error

https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=47187

Summary: Taskdef does not fail on error
           Product: Ant
           Version: 1.7.1
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows XP
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Core
        AssignedTo: notifications@ant.apache.org
        ReportedBy: jkean@palantirtech.com

when using <tasdef>, the onerror property is ignored if set to "fail".

The included script should fail when run, but it runs completely and even
reports the run as successful.

This is reproducible using Ant 1.7.1

I think you want onerror="failall"

just in case my comment wasn't clear, failall exists and is not something I
have invented.

I am afraid that is the defined (if not very useful) behavior. The onerror
attribute is used for definitions, (i.e. "taskname"->class using a classpath)
but not for resource search (i.e resource="not a good resource"). Believe it or
not there are build scripts that depend on this silly behavior.
