You can do the following on the kafka server itself after setting up jmxremote for port 9999

-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=9999

kafka-run-class.sh kafka.tools.JmxTool --jmx-url service:jmx:rmi:///jndi/rmi://:9999/jmxrmi --object-name kafka:type=kafka.BrokerAllTopicStat,*
