[jira] [Commented] (WHIMSY-99) Improve roster tool UX

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WHIMSY-99?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16045729#comment-16045729 ]

Sam Ruby commented on WHIMSY-99:
--------------------------------

One use for the notes column is to report issues: a mentor that is not on the PPMC, a member of the PPMC that is not a committer, a podling committer that is not an incubator committer. Those kind of things. On other pages, notes can include an indication of who is a chair. In my initial implementation of podling rosters, mentors were similarly marked, but ultimately it turned out better to split those names out to a separate list.

As long as the functionality is still there some place, feel free to change the UI as you see fit. I like the way that Shane took ownership of the CGI UI.

> The roster tool needs some UX improvements:
> - Double clicking on a row is not conventional, and actually makes mobile support next to impossible. We should have some kind of edit mode (as some call it, the hamburger may work)
> - The plus button turns into a search for some reason, without explaining whats going on. The search should explain more about what to do, and perhaps even explain the multi-search mode.
> - The buttons that do appear are in a notes column
> - There's no way to actually add notes so its not clear why we need a notes column
