[jira] [Closed] (ROL-1857) Event Calendar

Glen Mazza closed ROL-1857.
---------------------------

    Resolution: Won't Fix

The Events Calendar plugin was discontinued by Wordpress (http://wordpress.org/plugins/events-calendar/) for which they're now recommending a rather expensive third party service for this.

Implementing this would take a lot of effort away from normal Roller development, and nowadays people more simply use meetup.com for calendars of this nature, and embedding that into their blogs (http://www.meetup.com/meetup_api/foundry/). I'm not sure we can duplicate meetup.com and the results might look rather lousy if we tried.

> Provide an event calendar, similar to the Wordpress Event Calendar plugin (EC3).
> Events are Weblog entries with additonal attributes, start date and end date. They are assigned to a special category. By default, they do not appear on the blog page, only on the category page. They are sorted by ascending start date, not by descending publication date. Events expire automatically, past events are not displayed.
> An optional widget can be used to select events from a calendar.
