RfP: Apache T-Shirt Logo Contest

Hi Apache Committers,

sorry for sending this off-topic mail to the committers list, but
I would like to avoid those "why didn't I knew about it" comments. :-)
Please limit replies and discussions to the _community_ list.

As you may remember JINX made those nice ApacheCon/Apache t-shirts
for ApacheCon 2002 ... we could do the same or similar t-shirts again,
but I'm sure we can come up with something more creative!

Therefore we would like to do a little t-shirt logo contest
(limited to Apache committers). The winner (if we choose one
from the submitted logos/designs) receives a free night at
the ApacheCon hotel Alexis Park!

More details, e.g., requirements reg. image size/format will be posted
soon, but here are there most important facts:

Submission address: planners@apachecon.com
Deadline: Wednesday, 29th October, 3:00pm PST. (!)

Image format: TBD ('print quality' color image in a common image format)
Mandatory content: The Apache feather must be part of the logo/design
(IIRC various formats/variants of the feather can be
found inthe 'press kit' on the apache.org website.)
T-shirt color: TBD (probably grey)

If you have any great ideas for a logo, design, or tagline please
discuss them on the community list and/or submit final images/designs by
Wednesday to the ApacheCon planners team. We are looking forward to
receiving your submissions. :-)

ciao...

I like it. Very good idea.

I like the simplicity of this.

A variation of this could show the winnings (coins) falling
into a bin, with the coins labeled with XML, HTTPD, Perl,
PHP, etc.

I've done some more finishing:

Does that mean that anything done by the entity contained in the shirt
would have to be given away for free too? :)

That would be fine, but then you'd have to give away the shirt for free.

I have to admit that with my perverse sense of humor, I'd like to see the
normal above and below, with things like GPL, Roll-Your-own and Vendor
Lock-in as some of the losing items, and a big flashing sign showing all
Apache as hitting the jackpot. Unfortunately, I don't think that would
really be acceptable, mostly because of listing GPL.
