[jira] [Commented] (LEGAL-282) Can Apache projects rely on Ansible (GPL 3) if they don't distribute it?

As I understand it, Muchos is, basically, a set of Ansible scripts and a way of working w/ and coordinating w/ Ansible. As long as you don't bundle Ansible, you will be fine.

> I am a committer on Apache Accumulo. I created a tool (called [Muchos|https://github.com/astralway/muchos]) that launches an AWS EC2 cluster running Accumulo. The Muchos code currently resides on GitHub and is licensed as Apache 2.0. I would like to donate it to Apache Accumulo as contrib project but it contains code that relies on [Ansible|https://github.com/ansible/ansible] which is GPL 3. Muchos does not distribute Ansible but it has a [script|https://github.com/astralway/muchos/blob/master/ansible/scripts/install_ansible.sh] that installs Ansible in CentOS using yum. Muchos also has Ansible playbook code (written by me) that is executed by Ansible to setup the cluster. From reading the [previously asked questions page|http://www.apache.org/legal/resolved.html], it sounds like this might be OK as long as I don't distribute Ansible but I am not sure.
