share values

if I set values in the session scope in the action
classes (either portlet or session) can we retrieve
those from a servlet.

I tried the servlet gives null values.

If I do this this can be a solution for the pdf
rendering.

Cant we execute a servlet from the action class.

am using uPortal 2.5.1
