Applet: class not found error

I am getting the Class not found error when I am trying to load an
applet from a jsp page.  I am using Tomcat4.1.18 and Apache1.3 on RedHat
Linux7.2.  Is there a way to set the CLASSPATH for Tomcat? How do I
solve this problem? It is urgent for me.
