patch - log remote port in access_log
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM
The problem I have had was - from which one port number connect the remote side?
I need to know that because the connection breaks often and the other side
have TIME_WAIT state connections. They tell me that (!) my serwer connects
to them from port 80. I need to ensure that nobody is connecting to them
from the spoofed address. That is why I now log remote port for each connection.
HOW
I could not do that in a simplier way. There is no such option - log remote port.
Log environment variable REMOTE_PORT does not work. Then I patched apache-1.3.6
The patch (a few lines) for mod_log_config.c is enclosed to this message.
WHY I SEND THIS
I could not find anything about remote port logging on DejaNews.
Searching new-httpd mailing list is not possible - huge archive without
searching interface. I think this could be unuseable because
remote port logging is not needed, only if someone is in my situation,
but I provide this. There are 5 lines that could make someone happy.
