Excel grahps

Can POI generate graphs in Excel?

You could use the very low level APIs to write out the proper record stream.

I think you can also set up an Excel .xls file as a template. Put the chart
and sample data into the template. Then copy the template file. Then use POI
to update the cell data on which the data is based. Not sure if / how well
this works though.

You might check out http://jakarta.apache.org/poi/hssf/chart.html which
gives a description of the complexities involved.
