[D] Changing the default JDK platform [netbeans]
GitHub user diana200 created a discussion: Changing the default JDK platform
Hello! I want to change the default jdk platform from 25 to 26. I tryed to edit the configuration file, because it didn't work from netbeans interface. I have changed the windows 11 enviromental parameters to point to jdk 26. Can you help me changing that in Netbeans?

The JDK NetBeans uses can be overriden via the `netbeans.conf` file. That file has a property `netbeans_jdkhome`, which holds the path to the JDK to use.
The global file can be found in the NetBeans installation folder `c:\Program Files\Apache NetBeans\etc\netbeans.conf`. If you don't want to change the default/global value, create a file `%APPDATA%\NetBeans\<VERSION>\etc\netbeans.conf` and set the property `netbeans_jdkhome` there:

The default JDK is the one that the IDE is running on. By the look of the image on the issue you also opened, this is using the community installer which bundles JDK 25. Therefore, what you want is not (easily) possible. Use the zip download, and configure as @matthiasblaesing states.
