I must have missed your post on dev list so I'll give an answer to your original question.

Hi Grzegorz,

I jump on your answer a little bit lately, but where can I find info about Cocoon 2.2 roadmap ? I went to the GT2006 Hackathon but did not get the
info, did not managed to get it on the dev list, and as I plan to use Cocoon with Spring, Hibernate and Maven (sorry Jean-Baptiste :)) I would like to
know when it would be possible to switch to Cocoon 2.2.

Thank you !

In Cocoon 2.1.x it was a serious problem (I don't know if there was a standard solution for this issue) and has been successfully addressed
in Ccocoon 2.2 which brings us almost complete implementation of Cocoon blocks.
Block in Cocoon 2.2 is really self-containing package of Cocoon's application. My only advice is to switch to 2.2 as soon as RC is released. :-)

Sounds Good ;)

Well I think I'll wait for this, since our current project is based on
the ordinary 2.1.10 and I don't want to start any experiments here.
The Idea was switching to JavaFlow and here this RCL would really come
in handy ;)

I've talked about RCL plugin some time ago on my blog: http://reflectingonthevicissitudes.wordpress.com/
I use it quite regularly while developing some blocks and it does its job perfectly. And no, it's not hard to use, actually damn easy :-)

However, in order to use it you must switch to Cocoon's trunk or wait a little bit for RC release of Cocoon 2.2 that is already planned.

Hi,

I just stumbled over your discussion. There is a RepositoyClassLoader
available in Cocoon in which you can add additional classpath entries to
your application.
Unfortunately you can just add and not remove. This is why I didn't
continue in this direction. There is also a Reloading Classloader (RCL)
project available in the subversion repository of cocoon, but don't ask
me how to use it (It's a rather complex thing ... or at least the
documentation makes it look rather complex). If anyone has some
experiance with this, I would be glad to here more ;)

Just wanted to give you some hints ... hope they help you.

Hi Bertrand,

yes, Ant makes compiling and copying easier but ... you still have to
restart Cocoon to reload these classes.
And: The concept of user mounted directories is lead ad absurdum when
you have to put your generators & co. into a system directory.

I were glad if you could prove me wrong,
Florian

Instead of manually compiling and copying stuff, you could use an ant
build script like the one used in the BricksCms example (assuming
you're working with Cocoon 2.1.x, for 2.2 it's a different Maven-based
story). See http://wiki.apache.org/cocoon/BricksCms .

Hi Bhavya,

I would see this problem solved, too.
For simple bean classes e.g. "mypackage.MyBean.java" you may put them in
your own webapp directory below the directory "mypackage". They get
automagically compiled and reloaded. BTW, if you use Eclipse just put a
symbolic link to "src/mypackage".
For generators and friends they must be manually compiled and put below
build/webapp/WEB-INF/classes/mypackage. And then you have to restart
Cocoon. Not nice.

Anyone out there to help us with this issue?

Florian
