Incidentally, I recommend you write to user@velocity.apache.org as
that's where most of the support takes place. Copying my reply below:

That's strange. It looks like it is compiled but the test fails.
Try doing "ant clean" and then "ant test" to see what happens.
What version of Java are you running?
Can you cut/paste the complete ant output?

machine and it builds fine.
