[jira] Created: (HTTPCORE-220) IdentityDecoder fails to detect end
of stream when using file channels
IdentityDecoder fails to detect end of stream when using file channels
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Key: HTTPCORE-220
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HTTPCORE-220
Project: HttpComponents HttpCore
Issue Type: Bug
Components: HttpCore NIO
Affects Versions: 4.1-alpha1
Reporter: Asankha C. Perera
Assignee: Asankha C. Perera
Fix For: 4.1-beta1
The IdentityDecoder which checks for "this.channel.isOpen()" to detect the EOF when using file channels does not detect a remote socket closure. The only possibility is by reading from the channel, as the "dst.transferFrom(this.channel, position, count)" only returns 0 or
the number of bytes read - and never -1.

Asankha C. Perera resolved HTTPCORE-220.
----------------------------------------
Resolution: Fixed
Fixed by using the session input buffer to attempt a read after 0 bytes have been transferred. On a false alarm, the it is still possible to correctly transfer any bytes read into the session buffer
