[DISCUSS] Creation of users@apex.incubator.apache.org forum

Based on the fact that we have a lot of email threads going on in dev@, I
am proposing that we create users@apex.incubator.apache.org for folks to
post user, apps related queries. It will also help folks uncomfortable
posting to dev@ to open up.

Comments?

Thks,
Amol

Justin,
We are in the process of publishing the guidelines for being a committer.
We can set expectations on "subscribe to users@" as part of being a
committer.

Thks,
Amol

Justin,
Good point. We will actively ask dev@ to subscribe to users@. I am hoping
that a significant part of our dev@ community also subscribes to users@. We
should make it part of guidelines too. At the end of the day it is
volunteer work, so it cannot be forced.

Thks,
Amol

Hi,

One reason for keeping the list together that is you want users to become developers and interaction on that list helps but if you think there is too much user traffic on the dev list then you can separate the list.

How will you encourage committers and PPMC members to sign up to the user list and answer users questions?

Thanks,
Justin

+1, we should have separate user list.
