[jira] [Commented] (SPARK-3199) native Java spark listener API support

Patrick Wendell commented on SPARK-3199:
----------------------------------------

Hi there - I don't think opening the listener up to Java is something we want to do in the short term. Instead, we should expose a higher level progress reporting API that is callable from Java. So I'm actually going to close this one since my understanding is that this is not specifically required for the Hive case.

> Current spark listener API is totally scala style, full of case classes and scala collections, a native Java spark listener API would be much friendly for Java users.
