[jira] [Commented] (MESOS-1447) Include Mesos Version in SlaveInfo
protobuf

Benjamin Mahler commented on MESOS-1447:
----------------------------------------
{{SlaveInfo}} is generally treated as immutable, and so if a slave is upgraded but recovers its {{SlaveInfo}} from the previous version, this would prove problematic.
It's possible that we could instead add versioning to all protobuf messages (MESOS-986).

> When rolling out a new deployment of mesos across a large cluster, it'd be very useful to see in the Web UI (the Slaves tab) which slave is running which version of Mesos.
> I think this would be fairly easy to achieve, simply adding a new field into the {{SlaveInfo}} protobuf, and setting the value to some kind of version constant (if anyone knows of one that exists, that'd be great).
> Plus a new column in the slaves table on the Web UI.
