tomcat server.xml and deploy

  I am trying to add a logger element to by context
  entry in the server.xml.
  
  At start up of Tomcat is logd correctly
  
  When i do a redeploy it server.xml is updated and
  back
  to the original state without the logger element.
  logging stops.
  
  
  What am i doing wrong?
