How to change DB

Hi,
I installed J1.5 from binary distribution, so i have a directory Jetspeed in the webapps directory of Tomcat 5.0.19. My question is : which changes that necessitate rebuild of the *.war file and which one necessitate to execute the deploy command with maven ? (Case of Database change ? ).
