The documentation for the defualt initialization procedure at 
https://logging.apache.org/log4j/1.2/manual.html
states that the default resource looked for is "log4j.properties". What really
happens (at least in 1.2.17) is that it will look for "log4j.xml" in the
classpath first, before resorting to look for "log4j.properties". Please update
docs with this.
