I tried you code/files with the latest Xerces jars files from
http://gump.covalent.net/jars/latest/xml-xerces2/
and did get the error about "zip".

A bug related to dynamic validation was fixed after Xerces 2.1.0 was released.

Feel free to reopen this bug if you still see the problem in the latest jars.
