[Issue 128051] New: open office 3.3.0 base does not accept installed
jre
https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=128051
Issue ID: 128051
Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: open office 3.3.0 base does not accept installed jre
Product: Base
Version: 3.3.0 or older (OOo)
Hardware: PC
OS: Windows 7
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: Critical
Priority: P5 (lowest)
Component: code
Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
Reporter: a7t@swbell.net
Target Milestone: ---
open office 3.3.0 build 9567 base does not accept installed jre
I have 32-bit open office installed.
I have 32-bit jre/java 1.7.0_09 installed.
(I also have 64-bit jre/java 1.8.0_131 installed)
Both are listed in the java windows 7 control panel and marked as enabled.
When I try and make a table in base, I get the jre missing message.
In base I go to tools/options/java and try to add a jre
I give it the path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin and receive the
message "the folder does not contain a jre."
(I also tried: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7, C:\Program
Files\Java\jre1.8.0_131\bin, C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_131 but all the
paths give me a "folder does not contain a jre" message.
Please advise. Thank you.

--- Comment #1 from Marcus <ma...@apache.org> ---
Please note that this is not a typical problem of OpenOffice and it's not
necessarily a bug. Therefore this issue tracker is not the right place for
discussing and solving such case of problems. Please ask for help in the user
forums [1] or the users mailing list [2].
Furthermore, OpenOffice 3.3.0 is no longer supported. It's strongly recommended
to update to the lastest version that you can get from here [3].
