XML Creation api

Thank goodness I don't care a darn about the DOM (though if you ever want to 
talk about sax2 error reporting abilities, I may be interested -- although 
I've rolled my own solution to the point where it may be irrelevant to me).

On to my question, can anyone suggest an XML creation API?  Is there an 
equivalent of the XERCES xml parsing api.  I would prefer a stream based 
approach, but could deal with a document.  If no one can suggest one, I'll be 
forced to roll my own, as I now need to write XML :(.  Thanks for any help.
